LG service robot starts delivering orders to Seoul restaurant visitors

LG has launched its new service robot, Cloi, which now delivers food to the tables of visitors to Seoul's Chejjemyunso restaurant.

According to the announcement, Cloi ServeBot is capable ofindependently deliver up to four trays of customer orders while avoiding obstacles along the way. After diners have finished their meal, he can return to their tables to pick up the dishes and take them back to the kitchen.

The service robot is additionally equipped with a digital display, on which during the service process or when avoiding obstaclesvarious facial expressions are displayed. During the movement, he also plays music, warning others about his presence.

LG representatives say Cloi ServeBot is useful for delivering very hot dishes and heavy trays that can be difficult for waiters to handle.

Competition in this market segment is rapidlyis intensifying as Softbank Robotics previously announced plans to open a cafe in 2020 in which customers will be served by Pepper robot waiters.
