Wilsons Auctions auction house to sell $ 125,000 confiscated bitcoins

The Belgian federal government will sell $125,000 worth of confiscated bitcoins through auction.organized by the Irish auction house Wilsons Auctions.

Crypto assets are subject to sale on behalf ofThe Belgian Federal Government, which has seized BTC as part of criminal investigations and is currently working with Wilsons Asset Recovery Department to liquidate the cryptocurrency. The bitcoins will be sold at an auction on March 24, Wilsons Auctions said.

Last September, UK police soldthrough an auction house of $600,000 worth of BTC, ETH and XRP, and Wilsons Auctions previously auctioned off £300,000 worth of cryptocurrencies seized by the Belgian government in a drug trafficking case via the darknet. The auction, which will take place this month, will be the first online crypto asset auction in Ireland.

“This format has proved to be popular among ourcustomers who can bid online and buy cryptocurrency from a trusted auction house instead of using online exchanges, transactions on which can be a risky process, ”said Mark Woods, head of asset recovery at Wilsons.

He added that the auction house offers help.newcomers to give all investors the opportunity to "participate on an equal footing." Woods praised Wilsons' recent collaboration with international experts, as well as law enforcement and government agencies. He noted that the strategy allows the auction house to remain “at the forefront” of modern developments.

Recently, the US Marshals Service said it was going to auction off 4,040 bitcoins worth approximately $37.7 million, the first auction to sell the cryptocurrency since 2018.
