The US Federal Marshals Service will auction bitcoins for $ 37.7 million at auction

The Federal Marshals Service (USMS), a division of the U.S. Department of Justice, said it was going to sell$ 37.7 million BTC auction. This will be the first cryptocurrency auction since 2018.

“The auction will be held on February 18 for 6 hours. Bids will be accepted by e-mail only from pre-registered bidders, ”the statement said.

Bidders will also have to depositdeposit of $ 200,000 prior to the auction. Participants whose bids do not win the auction will receive the deposit back. Bitcoins will be sold in four lots at 2,500, 1,000, 500 and 40.54069820 BTC. The first three lots are divided into blocks of smaller amounts of bitcoins.

BTC for the auction were received as part of more than50 confiscations and court cases. The last time the Federal Marshals Service held auctions for the sale of bitcoins in 2018. Then 660 BTC were sold in October, as well as 2,100 and 3,800 BTC in March and January, respectively.
