Deputy Chairman of Roskomnadzor Vadim Subbotinsaid that blocking is possible out of court if the social network does not comply with the regulator's requirement before that moment. Twitter for a long time ignored the insistent demands of the department for the destruction of content prohibited in the Russian Federation.
Roskomnadzor counted more than 2 862 posts with prohibited information, and sent 28 thousand removal requests.
After the social network ignored the requests,The regulator began to slow down the work of Twitter. The operation did not go as smoothly as hoped – Along with Twitter, many government websites emerged.
The department will expect a response from Twitter within a month, then a complete blocking of the resource in Russia will follow.
Next in line are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Telegram, and YouTube, on which protocols on an administrative offense have already been drawn up on March 5.
