Kiev scammers rob pensioners around the world

According to an anonymous informant, there is an office in Kyiv with 200 employees that deals withBitcoin fraud. In 2019 alone, scammers managed to earn $ 200 million.

The informant provided documents, materials andphotographs to the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, which published the information on March 1. Scammers mainly targeted elderly residents of Australia, New Zealand and the UK. 

Participants in the scheme published fake news andadvertised them on Facebook and in mobile games. In this news, various celebrities (Gordon Ramsey, Hugh Jackman, Martin Lewis) talk about the huge profits they receive by investing in cryptocurrency.

According to the informant, the Ukrainian company MiltonGroup rents two floors in the office building of Mandarin Plaza in Kiev. These offices are equipped with professional telephone systems and customer service management systems.

In a telephone interview with Dagens NyheterMilton Group CEO Yakov Keselman denied all accusations. On his social media, Kesselman describes himself as the “Wolf of Kyiv” (a reference to Jordan Belfort – The Wolf of Wall Street).

The informant claims that he was part of the teamscammers. He was instructed to call gullible investors and "squeeze money out of them to the last cent." In addition, the most susceptible customers were offered to install additional software on their computer, which subsequently stole their banking information. The instructions to the staff indicated step by step how to convince older people to invest in a fake investment.

Reporters from Dagens Nyheter contacted one ofvictims of scammers – A 67-year-old Swedish woman who is now unable to pay utility bills or even buy food. The documents filed by the informant included a note that read: “sold house to pay, crying.”

According to some reports, in 2018 the SBU conducted searches in the office of the company. At that time, the company’s work was briefly suspended, and then, according to employees, they managed to “resolve” the issue.
