In the USA, they want to assign license plates to all drones

US Federal Aviation Administrationintroduced a legislative proposal to install individual remote identifiers on all private drones – electronic analogues of license plates.

The regulator considers these necessary measures toensuring airspace safety. According to officials, the innovation will help law enforcement and federal agencies timely identify potential threats and take appropriate measures against them.

Suggested IDsallow authorized services to remotely identify any drones and their operators in real time. New requirements will apply to all drones weighing more than 250 grams.

The authors of the proposal thus want to combat the smuggling of drugs and hazardous substances, as well as illegal surveillance and invasion of the privacy of citizens.

According to the Civil Aviation Administration, the number of drones in the US is growing rapidly, and about 1.5 million units have already been registered.

The agency was stimulated by the intentions of Alphabet, Amazon, and numerous startups to use drones in large quantities to deliver food, medicine, and other goods to their homes.

However, some companies offer much more unusual ways to use UAVs. For example, Audi introduced a car concept in which drones are used instead of headlights, illuminating the road from above.
