In the Sverdlovsk region, they are looking for investors to build a data center with a mining function

Authorities of the Sverdlovsk regionannounced the emergence of a data center, which can also be used for cryptocurrency mining. The amount of investment in the project should be from 1 billion rubles.

Possibility of building a data centerwas discussed by regional officials with the BitRiver company and other participants in the cryptocurrency market back in the summer, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“When constructing a data center, the investor does not alwayscan fill all its capacity 100%. Therefore, in principle, we as a region see for ourselves that these investors could use part of the capacity, including for the purposes of cryptocurrency mining,” explains Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Dmitry Ionin.

The official clarifies that the region will only be happylarge investors who are ready to invest in the project, taking into account the construction and purchase of equipment in the amount of 1 billion rubles. Dmitry Ionin assured that there are enough places in the Sverdlovsk region where there is a surplus of electricity, and the region can provide investors with a choice of several sites for the implementation of this project.

The other day, the Kommersant publication, citing distributors of mining devices, reported that in the fourth quarter of this year in Russia the demand for ASIC miners increased significantly.
