Rosseti Center and Volga Regionreported on a number of cases of identified theft of electricity for cryptocurrency mining in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This is stated on the company's website.
On May 27, Rosseti discovered 61 mining farms that have been operating since January. The company estimated the damage from farms at over 2.8 million rubles.
Before that, another 70 farms for the extraction of cryptocurrencies were discovered (preliminary damage - 7.8 million) and 26 devices that illegally consumed electricity for 5.4 million rubles.
In Rosseti they intend to continue "an uncompromising struggle against these crimes, seeking in each case the most severe punishment for the energy companies."
Earlier, Rosseti estimated losses from illegally connected mining farms over three years at 450 million rubles.
