In the Smolensk region, police illegally confiscated mining equipment worth 40 million rubles

The deputy head of the Vyazma inter-municipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and two operatives are accused ofillegal confiscation of mining equipment worth 40 million rubles.

Last February, police officerspreliminary conspiracy arrived at the shopping center in Vyazma, on the territory of which mining equipment was located. Calling the reason for the inspection of equipment received information on the theft of electricity, police officers illegally confiscated mining devices. After that, they transported the equipment to the hotel and used it at their own discretion.

According to available information, by the Interior Ministry236 Bitmain Antminer miners were seized, as well as 63 units of related equipment, including motherboards, power supplies, processors, RAM, coolers and video cards. The total value of illegally confiscated equipment amounted to more than 40 million rubles.

Illegally acting police officers are accused of abuse of office by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, official forgery and fraud. All of them were fired from the service.

In November, a miner from the city of Artyom of the Primorsky Territory,the equipment of which caused the fire, which destroyed property worth 53 million rubles, was to be brought to court. In addition, in September, a former employee of the nuclear center in Sarov was fined for mining on a supercomputer.
