Cardano project developers implement Ouroborus BFT hard fork in February

Soon the Cardano blockchain will enter the Shelley phase, along with the implementation of which the Ouroborus BFT consensus will be implemented(OBFT) based on the PoS algorithm.

OBFT positions itself as the first PoS protocolwhich corresponds to the security provided by the PoW protocol. Charles Hoskinson, founder and CEO of the blockchain company IOHK, said that the OBFT hard fork will take place in mid-February. Hoskinson said the company is in talks with partners to ensure the “infrastructure” is properly built to implement the hard fork.

In a recent video, the project head told the community:

… The infrastructure is almost ready, therefore, the OBFT hard fork could be implemented as early as mid-February. So this will require a software update with a reboot of Byron.

In addition, the Cardano ecosystem is gearing up to launch the Shelley Haskell test network.

Regarding the next generation protocolShelley- Hydra – then, according to Hoskinson, its development has already begun. According to the head of the project, this protocol will work five times faster than the Ethereum protocol.
