Cardano CEO Charles Hoskinson said on live stream that the next stage of the Alonzo hard forkscheduled for early September.

Hoskinson noted that work is progressing according to plan. The first phase began in May. Second – in July, with a third, Alonzo Purple, scheduled for early next month.

The update will allow the development of decentralized applications (dApps) on Cardano.

However, skepticism about the implementation of the plans has been growing since Hoskinson several times announced the delay in adding smart contract functionality to Cardano.

In July 2021, Polymarket forecast marketopened a betting pool on the topic “Will Cardano support smart contracts on the Mainnet by October 1, 2021?” According to the latest Polymarket data, the odds are 59-41 against.
