Airbus introduced a new model of a passenger aircraft with a reduced fuselage, which externally creates the appearance of one large wing.

French at the Singapore AirshowThe aircraft manufacturing giant has demonstrated a prototype of its innovative Maveric aircraft concept. Its design is more reminiscent of the flying wing glider typically used for military bombers. Another difference from traditional standards is the location of the engines, which are attached to vertical stabilizers above the rearpart of the plane.

Although the Maveric looks like a transport from a science fiction film, Airbus claims that this design reduces fuel consumption by 20% and improves aerodynamic performance.

Merging the wings with the fuselage also givesPossibility to modernize the cabin and interior. The new design will make the interior of the aircraft wider and increase overall space. Therefore, it will become freer on board and there will be an opportunity to reduce congestion.

So far, it has been created only remotely3.2-meter guided wingspan that engineers used to test the viability of the Maveric concept. Since Airbus is one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, actively introducing innovative developments, it is possible that in the near future we will be able to see planes with a full wing on commercial flights.

Earlier, Airbus also introduced the Bird of Prey aircraft concept, which design reduces fuel consumption by 30-50%.
