Alexander Vinnik's lawyer: the court will decide on the appeal of the defense by June 30

The Supreme Court of Greece gavetime until June 16 for the provision of additional documents for the defense of Russian citizen Alexander Vinnik on appeals on the illegality of his extradition to France, TASS reports.

The court is considering two appeals — one was filed by Vinnik through lawyers, the second was sent on behalf of his wife and children.

According to the Russian’s Greek lawyer, Zoya Konstantopoulou, the defense asked for a delay in order to have time to receive all the documents from Vinnik’s cancer-stricken wife, who is in Russia.

In addition, «the defense has a big problem» caused the death of Vinnik’s lawyer Timofey Musatov, Konstantopoulou said:

«First of all, we lost our colleague,who defended Alexander since 2017, and secondly, we do not have access to the dossier that Musatov kept, these are very important documents for Vinnik’s defense. The court decided that this was not a significant reason to postpone the consideration of the case.

Constanthopoulou is convinced that the Greek court will decide on the appeals by the end of this month.

«The court with this composition of judges and thisThe chairman wants to finish the case before some judges retire, including the chairman of the court himself. His term in office ends on June 30, so if the consideration of the case had been postponed, it would have been transferred to another composition of the court», — stated the lawyer.

Recall that Alexander Vinnik is suspected of laundering at least $ 4 billion through the BTC-e bitcoin exchange.

At the end of January, the Russian was extradited from Greece to France, where the Russian is being held in custody. In May, a Paris court rejected the defense's request for Vinnik's release.
