Satoshi Nakamoto monument erected in Budapest

On September 16, in Budapest (Hungary), in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, a statue of the creator was unveiledbitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto. Anyone who looks at the bronze Nakamoto will see himself in it.

Bronze Satoshi Nakamoto wears a sweatshirt withthe bitcoin logo, his head is hidden by a hood. The sculptors Réka Gergely and Tamás Gilly wanted to create a bust that would remind viewers that “I am / We are Satoshi”. Therefore, the bronze face of the monument is polished in such a way as to become a reflective surface, so everyone who looks at it should be aware of the important role users play in the spread of the first cryptocurrency. This decision of the sculptors is also due to the fact that the gender, height, weight and age of Satoshi Nakamoto are unknown, so the monument is just a conditional image of the anonymous creator of bitcoin.

The shape of the monument may also be a reference to the words of American politician Elizabeth Warren, who in July this year called bitcoin supporters "a dark faceless group of supercoders."

The monument was designed by crypto enthusiast András Györfi. He highlighted the benefits that Bitcoin and blockchain technology bring to the world:

«It is efficient, fair and transparenta database that eliminates mistrust between people and has the potential to make the world a better place in many areas - from food supply to relief».

Financially, fourorganizations: Mr. Coin, Crypto Academy, Blockchain Hungary Association and Blockchain Budapest. The statue is set in the Graphisoft Park in Budapest's 3rd District, where there is already a statue depicting Apple founder Steve Jobs in his usual image of jeans, sneakers and a turtleneck.

Only a few months passed from the conception to the installation of the monument.
