Russian miners expect an increase in electricity tariffs

The Russian Ministry of Energy is developing new electricity tariffs for miners.

INThe Ministry of Energy is dissatisfied with the growth of consumptionenergy resources by miners at tariffs for the population. According to the head of the department, Nikolai Shulginov, it is simply unacceptable to allow commercial activities for the extraction of cryptocurrency to operate at reduced and subsidized tariffs for the population. The current tariff will lead to losses for energy companies, and these losses will grow as the crypto industry and mining develop.

Only in the Irkutsk region energy consumptionincreased by 159%, due to an increase in the number of miners in the region. Shulginov said that the ministry is working on this issue and will present new tariffs in the near future. He also plans to legislate mining as a business.
