Marathon bought 30 thousand new miners from Bitmain for $ 120 million

Mining company Marathon Digital Holdings, shareswhich is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange, entered into an agreement with Bitmain for the supply of 30 thousand Antminer S19j Pro miners. The deal amounted to $ 120.7 million. The equipment manufacturer will supply Marathon miners in the first half of 2022. After the commissioning of new equipment, the company plans to increase the hash rate by 13.3 EH / s (exahashes). As of August 1st, Marathon hashrate was 109 EH / s.

The mining company mined 265.6 bitcoins in June. This is 17% more than in May. As of June, Marathon owned 5,784 bitcoins ($ 228 million at 17:40 UTC on August 2).

According to the head of the company Fred Thiel, now is the optimal time to increase the equipment fleet. Thiel expects the company to become the largest player in the world after deploying new miners.
