Microsoft has warned cryptocurrency owners about new cyber threats

Microsoft's research unit has warned digital asset owners that their funds in crypto wallets may be at risk due to the new Anubis virus.

The Microsoft Security Intelligence (MSI) team has detected malware that has code similar to the common Android Loki Trojan. Its main function is to steal the credentials of cryptocurrency wallets and bank cards from Windows usersand other personal information.

MSI is inclined to believe that Anubis is a manageable virus, as it originally appearedonly in companies that used only a few known download URLs and C2 servers.

Currently malwarespread across a number of websites by deceiving visitors. Once loaded, it uses the HTTP POST command to send personal data to monitored servers.

Loki's source code used social engineering tools to deceive, so to avoid infection, MSI experts recommendDon't open attachments in suspicious messages and emails.

Previously, researchers from Microsoft Defender ATP also reported a new type of malware for the hidden mining of cryptocurrencies.
