Maggi will launch NFTs in the form of cooking recipes in the metaverse

The Indian branch of food seasoning brand Maggi is preparing to launch its own non-fungible tokens in the OneRare Foodverse metaverse.

Maggi, part of the Nestlé group, entered into an agreement with the OneRare project to launch NFTs. Tokens will be presented in the form of recipes for culinary dishes, in the preparation of which Maggi Noodles, Maggi Masala-ae-Magic and Maggi Hot & Sweet. These range from simple noodle recipes to classic Indian dishes.

OneRare co-founder Supreet RajuRaju believes that blockchain technology has the potential to transform the food industry by bringing iconic collectibles to life in the virtual space. Nestlé India food business leader Rajat Jain hopes digital transformation of the business will open up new ways of interacting with customers. Entering the metaverse will allow the company to adapt to innovations, management believes.

Fast food restaurant chain McDonald's in France also tokenized its “iconic” dishes, presenting them as NFTs.

“We can say that cooking in Indiais undergoing a digital transformation. In the metaverse, cooking can be done regardless of skill or experience. Through our partnership with OneRare, we will bring culinary pleasure to people without the need for physical activity,” explains Rajat Jain.

This is not the first time Nestlé has worked with digital innovation. In 2020, Nestlé began using IBM's blockchain-based Food Trust platform to track coffee supply chains.
