Chicago Mercantile Exchange starts trading Ethereum futures

The long-awaited launch of settled Ethereum futures has taken place on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).

The new product went on sale yesterday, andThe first trade deals start today. According to the description, crypto futures are monthly contracts for 50 ETH (about $82 thousand at the current rate), settlements for which are made in cash at the CME CF ether-dollar reference rate. The minimum trade size is 5 contracts.

Liquidity providers for new products include companies like Galaxy, Genesis, NYDIG, CoinShares, BlockFi.

CME Group becamethe first exchange to bring Ethereum futures contracts to the US stock market.

Let us recall that the Chicago Board Options Exchange previously announced plans to launch cryptocurrency indices in the second quarter of 2021.
