Cardano Shelley update will be launched in June

IOHK CEO Charles Hoskinson announced that the Shelley upgrade for Cardano will launch nextmonth.

The team will begin deploying the update from June 30 to July 7. The CEO noted that the upgrade will be carried out in several stages:

• June 9 – Shelley will be available to everyone, and users will be able to run a pool with ADA tokens;
• June 16 – the Shelley test wallet will be made publicly available;
• June 30 – “if everything runs smoothly,” Shelley will be fully operational.

Hoskinson added: 

“The functionality of the Shelley era will provide true decentralization with an improved consensus algorithm and a new incentive scheme.”

Incentivized Testnet Shelley will allow holdersEarn ADA currency using staking. Owners can manage staking pools by placing coins of other users on their behalf, or delegate their coins to someone else.

The amount that the user delegates affectshow the Proano-of-Stake Cardano protocol chooses which lucky one will be able to add the next block. The larger the bet, the greater the chance of winning.
