The owner of the rights to the name “Bitcoin” and the logo wished to remain anonymous. Patent and Trademark OfficeSpain told Cointelegraph that it is a local entrepreneur with its own cryptocurrency exchange.
About his desire, as well as the true reasons for registering rights, he says the following:
"He took responsibility for this brand to provide users with confidence in safety when working with me."
The entrepreneur does not intend to interfere with the work of other specialists or services, however, he promises to fight fraudsters.
"I am not one of Satoshi, I have drawn up the rights and I will use the name and logo correctly, speaking out to protect them in case of someone else’s illegal activity."
Note that the name of a certain Eduardo Perez Montero from Oviedo is indicated in the document for registering a Bitcoin trademark. The registration process was helped by lawyer Ignacio Rubio Menendez.
In the Russian Federation, the Bitcoin trademark has been registeredin 2016. Then a member of the board of Blockchain.community Alex Fork, Bitcoin LLC does not plan commercial use of the mark. On the contrary, according to him, the entire registration process was launched solely in order to prevent the possible monopolization of the Bitcoin brand in the same hands and the subsequent pumping of money from Russian cryptocurrency users.
In Britain, the Bitcoin trademark was registered in 2018.
