Spanish entrepreneur registers Bitcoin trademark and logo rights

A Spanish businessman involved in the sale and purchase of cryptocurrency has registered ownership of the name and logo of Bitcoin at the national level.

The entrepreneur wished to remain anonymous, but said that he had brought in a lawyer and an intellectual property expert to register with the local Patent and Trademark Office.

According to the businessman, he did this to confirm the legality of his activities and protect the Bitcoin brand from abuse by scammers, at least in Spain. AlthoughHe does not seek to impersonate Satoshi Nakamoto, but said that he intends to fight against the misuse of the logo and name of the first cryptocurrency.

However, the registered trademarkidentical to the original symbolism of bitcoin, so the copyright holder will be able to make complaints to everyone who uses it in Spain without proper permission.

An example is the British company ABCIPHoldings South West, which in 2018 registered a trademark called Bitcoin, after which local businesses began receiving orders banning the distribution of products with this symbol.
