Roskomnadzor registered an order to establish a Monitoring Center

The agency registered with the Ministry of Justice an order to create a Monitoring Center necessary forisolation of the Russian segment of the Internet.

The new structure should accumulate the wholeinformation about public networks and if it is required to isolate the Runet. Information from the Center will help providers urgently redirect traffic and ensure the proper operation of the Runet Isolation Law, which entered into force on November 1.

Among the main tasks assigned to the body– centralized infrastructure management for the uninterrupted operation of the Runet, monitoring the existing infrastructure and IP addresses of companies, maintaining a register of traffic exchange points, identifying information threats and providing technical means (TSPU) to telecom operators to eliminate such threats.

The Center will report directly to federal executive bodies that ensure the information security of the Russian Federation.

In September, Russian media reported the beginningtesting of TSPU in the Urals. All summer, the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, together with Roskomnadzor, has been developing by-laws that will allow the Russian segment of the Internet to isolate itself from the rest of the world.
