The Kiev prosecutor's office reported an employee of the State Enterprise "Information Judicial Systems" who illegallyused office equipment for cryptocurrency mining.
Miner served as a specialist inIT industry. During the investigation, it was revealed that from January to May 2018, he mined cryptocurrencies using office computers, where judicial documentation was stored, and also used the bandwidth of the organization’s website. It is assumed that the “specialist” hosted external sites on production servers, including three online stores.
For illegal interference with computerorganization systems and for the distribution of malicious software, an employee of the Information Judicial Systems faces up to 6 years in prison and a ban on working in government institutions.
Employees of Ukrainian enterprises is not the first timecome across illegal cryptocurrency mining. For example, in November, employees of the Lviv branch of Ukrainian Railways used the company's energy systems for this purpose, the damage amounted to about 2.6 million rubles.
However, this month the Ministry of DigitalUkraine’s transformation stated that mining does not need to be regulated, and this activity should be regulated only by the protocol itself and by network participants.
