In Russia, there was a new surge in sales of video cards for mining

In monetary terms, sales of devices that can be used for cryptocurrency mining in Augustgrew by 49%.

They recorded a sharp increase in sales of PC components in the summer of 2020. According to the operator "Platform OFD", sales of devices in July-August grew by 470% compared to the same period last year, and the leaders in terms of volume were video cards, processors and RAM.

Over the past summer, electronics sales were31% higher than last year, and the average check grew by 35%, to 6.6 thousand rubles, according to the company. Andrei Kirichevsky, director of the Laptops, Tablets and Components Department of Marvel Distribution, pointed out that one of the trends was the growth in consumption of video cards for mining, starting in August.

Representative of "Citylink" Andrey Rusakovconfirmed that sales of video cards that can be used for mining increased by 49% in monetary terms. Nvidia also noted a twofold increase in sales compared to August last year, said Irina Shekhovtsova, a representative of the video card manufacturer.

In 2017, during the sharp growth of the marketcryptocurrencies, there was a shortage of video cards in the market, as miners were actively buying them. Then the manufacturers had to limit the number of sales to one person. Now interest in mining is growing again against the backdrop of the development of the field of decentralized finance (DeFi).

Ethereum miners' revenues in August 2020rose 98.2% to $ 285.1 million. This is the highest value in the last 25 months. The indicator rose amid record transaction fees on the altcoin network. Commissions have been holding above the $ 2 mark for more than a month.
