Former head of the Russian Post branch suspected of illegal mining

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the former head of the Russian Post branch inMineral Waters. He is suspected of illegal mining at the company's facilities.

As reported by RNS with reference to the InvestigativeThe Russian Committee for the Stavropol Territory has opened a criminal case against the former head of the Russian Post branch in Mineralnye Vody on suspicion of illegal cryptocurrency mining. According to the investigative body, the branch manager mined cryptocurrencies using computer equipment that was connected to the company’s power grid.

The Investigative Committee claims thatthe suspect illegally installed and connected computer equipment for cryptocurrency mining to the organization’s power grid in September 2019 and actively used it for six months. Illegal use of electricity and the Internet caused damage to the federal postal service of the Stavropol Territory in the amount of more than 30,000 rubles.

Let us remind you that in March the policeSt. Petersburg revealed an illegal connection to electrical networks with the aim of stealing electricity for mining. In addition, in August last year, an illegal connection of a mining farm to municipal power grids was discovered in Krasnoyarsk.
