Startup Revolut partnered with Mastercard to issue debit cards in the USA

A cryptocurrency startup with Russian roots, Revolut, has partnered with the payment giantMastercard aimed at launching debit cards in the USA.

Today, an announcement appeared on the companies website that the release of Revolut cards will be implemented by the end of this year.

The launch in the U.S. will be a huge milestone for us, and we are thrilled that Mastercard will becomeour partner," said Nick Storonsky, Founder and CEORevolut.

As part of the deal, Mastercard will issue at leasthalf of all existing Revolut cards in Europe. The partnership will also allow Revolut to expand into Asian and Latin American countries including Australia, Singapore, Japan, New Zealand, Brazil and Mexico. This means that the company’s activities can expand to 210 countries in which the Mastercard payment service operates.

Last month, Revolut also partnered with another payment giant, Visa.
