Solana developers promise to focus on network stability

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said that updates to the project code should make the network much more reliable and reduce the likelihood of block production stopping.

Yakovenko, at the Breakpoint 2022 conference in Lisbon, Portugal, admitted that over the past year the Solana network has repeatedly encountered problems:

“We've had a lot of challenges this year, I would say we've been working on network reliability all last year.”

The network stopped several times at the beginning2022, and the last long downtime was recorded in early October. During the year, block production in Solana stopped four times. Yakovenko revealed details of the desynchronization of blockchain validators in late May and early June. Usually blocks are created within 400 milliseconds, but in June they began to appear much less often.

“Things got really bad in June. The block mining time exceeded a second, which is very slow for Solana. In some cases, confirmation had to wait 15-20 seconds. And this is not the user experience that I would like to offer. We are constantly struggling with security, performance, decentralization, and throughput. And when we improve one thing, we can harm another. But I think that we did an excellent job and eliminated many problems,” Yakovenko convinced the listeners.

Solana co-founder admitted that he remainsThere are quite a few problems and bugs, but thanks to a partnership with Jump Crypto, the Firedancer solution was launched, which should solve the problems of network disconnection. Yakovenko assured that the project is constantly being improved.

Earlier it was reported that Google decided to simplify the deployment of nodes in blockchains for even more developers, including Solana.
