The lower house of the legislature of the US state of Louisiana approved a bill thatinvolves licensing cryptocurrency companies.
Bill drafted this year underThe management of Mark Wright, a representative of the state, describes the process of obtaining a license by cryptocurrency firms, and also clarifies the definitions of cryptocurrency exchanges and various concepts related to the field of “virtual currencies”.
The document was approved by the House of RepresentativesLouisiana unanimously, and received 92 votes in favor. After that, the bill was submitted to the state Senate, and then to the Committee on Trade, Consumer Protection and International Affairs. Note that earlier Wright promoted the idea of introducing regulation of digital assets in the state.
Companies will need to obtain a licenseapply to the state financial institution office. Firms will also have to pay a non-refundable registration fee. Moreover, if the company already has a state license with similar regulation, then it does not need to obtain a Louisiana license.
