Line messenger Bitcoin exchange will carry out XRP delisting

The Bitbox cryptocurrency exchange, owned by the operator of the Japanese instant messenger Line, announced the delisting of the XRP coinfrom Ripple.

The Singapore-based exchange has excluded XRP pairs with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Tether (USDT) since January 16.

Users after this date will not be able to trade and make deposits in XRP. They must withdraw funds by February 16th.

The Bitbox message does not indicate a specific reasondelisting of the Ripple coin. It states that an exchange will exclude an asset if it does not meet its standards for «performance, reliability, liquidity or legal and regulatory requirements».

Bitbox, which began operations in 2018, is one of two Line cryptocurrency exchanges. In September, the company launched the licensed bitcoin exchange BitMax in Japan.

Earlier, Line also created its own public blockchain and cryptocurrency.
