Intel Corporation shared the technical characteristics of two generations of its bitcoin mining rigs at once.

According to the presentation presented atIEEE International Conference on Solid State Circuits (ISSCC), the performance of the first model will be 40 terahashes per second at a power of 3600 watts. Its architecture will include 300 BMZ1 ASICs optimized for the SHA 256 cryptographic algorithm.

The second generation of Bonanza miners will be based on a similar architecture, but with moreenergy efficient BMZ2 chips. The device will deliver 40.4 TH/s but consume 37% less power, 2293W or 57J/Th.

Both models will be equipped with hardware that allows you to choose between energy-saving and high-performance modes to optimize the cryptocurrency mining process.

Intel researchers patent technologychip back in 2018. Then the description said that the developed equipment was 15% more efficient than the market analogues of Bitmain, MicroBT and Nvidia. However, a lot has changed since then, for example, the energy efficiency of the flagship Antminer models does not exceed 30 J / Tx.

The complexity of the Bitcoin network continuesto grow despite the market downturn, and the hashrate recently reached a record 248 EH/s. This trend requires the continuous development of effective solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption.
