Last week, Mikri Zhan, co-founder of Bitmain, was abruptly fired from his position at the company. Now,according to Jean, he is going to sue the company.
In a letter posted Thursday on WeChat, Zhan said he was fired from the company without his consent while he was on a “business trip.”
I never thought that as a person, involved in technology and products, I will also have to deal with lawyers. But what confused me was that I, as a co-founder of Bitmain, the largest shareholder and registered legal representative, was removed from my duties without my knowledge during a business trip, – said Jean, adding:
Until then I didn't realize that these scenesTV shows where you get stabbed in the back by partners you previously trusted and “brothers” you fought alongside can actually happen in real life.
Jean assured Bitmain employees and shareholders that he “will be back to the company soon” to achieve business goals.
We had a goal to gain 90% market share byproduction of Bitcoin miners! Our AI [artificial intelligence] business could achieve a breakthrough of about RMB 100 million [~$14.25 million] in revenue in 2019 and could grow to RMB 1 billion [~$143 million] in 2020, – Jean added.
Recall last week, Cihan Wu, another Bitmain co-founder, sent an email to Bitmain employees saying that Jean was absent and that he took over his duties.
