Walmart has confirmed its interest in unmanned aerial vehicles, the control of which will be produced through blockchain technology.
The commercial giant has filed a patent application“Cloning UAVs using the blockchain” in January 2019, while the patent was only published on the website of the US Patent and Trademark Office on August 1.
The app is not Walmart's first step into the field of unmanned aerial vehicles with blockchain support. In 2017, Walmart tried to patent a blockchain-based package delivery system.
According to the patent, the blockchain technology will beused to transmit information such as drone identification numbers, altitude, speed and flight route, battery information, payload, etc.
As Walmart notes, the advantage of blockchain technology is data integrity:
The blockchain can store any information inin any other format and on any medium, for example, a large list of teams of various types, navigation information and maps. Thus, the same software profile can be deployed on multiple drones.
