Dfinity showcases decentralized version of LinkedIn social network

Blockchain startup Dfinity showed an open decentralized version of the social network for search and establishmentLinkedIn business contacts called LinkedUp, reports The Block.

The LinkedUp app runs on a decentralized "internet computer" called Dfinity, which will compete with Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, according toin the company.

The LinkedUp demo is not a launch, it is intended to show that developers cancreate open versions of WhatsApp, Facebook, eBay, Salesforce, and others on the Internet Computer platform.

As the startup emphasized, LinkedUp was created by "one and a half engineers in three weeks."

"Big tech companies have taken over the internet and stifled innovation by owning their own infrastructure and relationships with users."Internet Computer provides the means to restore web services in an open form,"- said the founder and chief scientist of Dfinity, Dominic Williams.

So far, the startup has presented a demo version of the decentralized platform. Commercial launch is planned for later this year.

Recall, last year, Dfinity raised $ 102 million.Investments in a closed token sale involving venture capital Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Polychain Capital, SV Angel, Aspect Ventures and Multicoin Capital. However, it was reported that investors sell project tokens in the secondary market with significant discounts.
