Cryptocurrency and fiat volatility for December 2019

Today, we will compare the December volatility of crypto assets paired with the US dollar and the volatility of somefiat currencies. To summarize the year 2019 for the most volatile pairs.

Comparative results of the maximum percentage change in the value of assets for the month since the beginning of 2019 are presented in the table below:

The Bitcoin price showed the greatest volatility in 2019 in May and June, during the bull run.At that time, an annual maximum was set, and volatility reached 87%. 

It is worth noting that May and June of last year were the most active months for all the cryptocurrency pairs considered.The largest growth in a month was then shown by the price of IOTA, in May the growthAnd in December last year, the price of IOTA fell by more than 30%, setting an annual low. 

In December, Ripple and Stellar prices also updated annual lows, and the decline over the last month of the year was about 23 and 27 percent, respectively.

The Turkish lira broke volatility records twice in a year, strengthening in April and falling by more than 10% in August. 

The most stable currency in 2019 can be called the Chinese yuan. In August, the renminbi price fell by about 4.5%, and during the year, price fluctuations did not exceed two and a half percent.
