Bitmain acknowledges Antminer S17 ASIC miners to fail

Bitmain has confirmed reports from buyers of the latest batches of Antminer S17 that about 30% of devices are comingwithbroken boards or very quickly fail.

A Bitmain spokesman acknowledged the problem and statedthat the company always closely monitors customer reviews and, if there are problems, takes all possible measures. Especially if the problem is covered by the media, as in this case.

Attention to the disadvantages of the Antminer S17 + wasattracted after the creation of a group in the Telegram messenger dedicated to the repair and use of Antminer ASIC miners. The group’s administrator Arseny Grusha reported that in February 2020 he ordered 420 Antminer S17 +. However, at the moment 32 miners (7.6% of the party) are not turning on, giving an error ERROR_SOC_INIT. Another 99 devices (23.6%) do not work at full capacity - only 1 or 2 boards with chips are functional in them, and almost 80% of the problem appeared the first time it was turned on. ASIC miners have the latest firmware installed. The group now has more than 160 participants and some of them complain about the similar behavior of the devices.

“We have already begun negotiations with customers whofaced failures in the operation of our equipment. Our customers will always remain in first place for us, and if someone encounters problems in Antminer devices, he can always contact us, ”said a Bitmain employee.

In April, about the same problem with Antminer S17 and T17Blockstream Strategy Director Samson Mow reported. According to him, radiators often fall off the chips, and the cooling of the power supplies fails, which leads to overheating and equipment failure.

Presentation of Antminer S17 + and T17 + took place last fall, and their deliveries began in early December. Now this is the latest generation of Antminer.
