Binance.US Hires Former PayPal Executive

The head of the US division of Binance, Brian Schroeder, announced the appointment of Jasmine Lee to the post of CFO. Previously she was inworked for PayPal for eight years.

Li has held various senior positions at the payments giant, including CFO and COO. Later, she went to work at the fintech company Acorns.

“As a new addition to our team, Jasmine will help guide Binance.US’s IPO efforts over the next two to three years,” Schroeder said.

Li's experience at PayPal "will be invaluable" to the bitcoin exchange, he said. In the new position, the specialist will oversee financial transactions, investor relations and other issues.

Binance.US launched in the US in 2019. Schroeder took over as CEO in October 2021. In this post, he replaced former OCC head Brian Brooks, who worked at the company for about three months.

About Binance's plans.The US held a media funding round disseminated in September. Later in November, the CEO of the parent company, Changpeng Zhao, revealed plans for the American subsidiary to raise $200 million in anticipation of going public.

In April 2022, Binance.US raised $200 million in a seed round at a valuation of $4.5 billion. In June, journalists learned about the plans of the American division of Binance to raise an additional $50 million.

As a reminder, the US Securities and Exchange Commission initiated an investigation into ties between Binance.US and two Zhao-affiliated trading firms, according to the Wall Street Journal.

In June, a lawsuit was filed against the American platform Binance on behalf of investors LUNA and TerraUSD (UST).
