Italian airport servers used for ether mining

An employee at the Italian airport Lamezia Terme was arrested for using the computer systems of the server rooms for Ethereum Mining (ETH).

According to local media, the city's prosecutor's officeopened a criminal case against a 41-year-old man who turned his workplace into a full-fledged mining farm. During a check of internal computer systems, the airport administration found installations for the extraction of cryptocurrency in two technical rooms.

The investigation revealed that the employee connected the equipment to the Internet viainternal network systems responsible for managing the services of the complex. In addition, the man infected the airport servers with malware for hidden mining.

Video footage from security cameras also confirmed his involvement in the creation of the farm.

This is not the first timeusing resources of strategic objects for cryptocurrency mining. For example, last year the Security Service of Ukraine discovered a mining farm and arrested a mining farm at the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant.
