Poll: 10% of UK citizens have already bought bitcoin

Despite rising in price and popularity over the past couple of months, Bitcoin is still far from mainstream attentionA recent study in the UK found that only 10% of the country's population purchased BTC.

The survey was conducted after the rise in the price of cryptocurrencies by Companies Opinium and AltFi, which tried to find out the opinion of people about digital assets.

2,000 adults in the UK were asked how the COVID-19 pandemic had affected their financial situation.Most stated that they had turned to digital investment, refraining frominvestments in physical assets.

Of this sample, only 10% (or 200 people) specified that they bought cryptocurrencies.

Although the percentage is still relatively small, the 2020 results can be seen as an undeniable improvement.A similar study conducted at the end of 2019 revealed 5.3% of cryptocurrency buyers.

The AltFi study also found that platforms such as Revolut and Freetrade have experienced a significant influx of new investors.Among the other preferred platforms were Google Pay and Apple Pay - 28% of cryptocurrency buyers used one of them.

It is not surprising that residents of one of the most important financial cities in the world and the capital of Great Britain London were the most open to bitcoin.Almost 25% of respondents living in London said they had already bought BTC or another cryptocurrency.

The least bitcoin-friendly city in the UK was Plymouth - here only one resident bought virtual assets.

The study also confirmed that younger generations are more likely to invest in BTC.Almost 20% of participants aged 18 to 34already done so, while on the category of people aged 55and the older was only 1%.
