Several large Chinese companies have decided to join the central bank's digital currency project.
According to the local edition of Finance Caixin, Meituan and Bilibilibili began working with a number of banks involved in the digital renminbi testing program.
Meituan is a popular Chinese platforme-commerce, used by more than 240 million consumers and 5 million merchants, and Bilibilibili – China's largest video sharing website.
In addition, ByteDance's multinational tech team is also in discussions with banksthe issue of joining the project, and the conglomerateDiDi, a transportation services company, recently announced a strategic partnership with the People's Bank of China's Digital Currency Research Institute.
