Two residents of Tomsk will be tried for stealing 86 bitcoins

The criminals who attacked an unemployed resident of Tomsk and stole BTC worth 360 million rubles from him were detained. Soon they will be judged by the Kirovsky Court of Tomsk.

The attack took place back in October 2021of the year. When the victim left the house, one of the criminals was already waiting for him. Threatening him with a pistol, he entered the miner’s apartment, and later an accomplice joined him. Law enforcement agencies managed to detain one of the suspects in St. Petersburg. The criminal admitted guilt and returned part of the stolen money - 35 million rubles.

His accomplice was later caught.Both attackers turned out to be residents of Tomsk. The regional prosecutor's office charged them under Part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Robbery committed by a group of persons on an especially large scale”). They face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to 1 million rubles.

“Acting in a group of people according to preliminaryin conspiracy with an accomplice, the criminal case against whom was separated into separate proceedings, they attacked a man in the entrance of a residential building and took him into the apartment. Threatening them with an object that looked like a pistol, the attackers forced the victim to enter the personal account of the cryptocurrency exchange and transfer them 86 bitcoins,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

In addition to bitcoins, the criminals also stolelaptop and cash. The total amount of damage was about 360,460,000 rubles. Interestingly, the Tomsk miner’s wallet contained 90 bitcoins, but the attackers did not take everything.
