The Reddit forum has launched beta testing of two Ethereum-based tokens that will be used for...User rewards for posting content in the cryptocurrency and Fortnite game sections.
Tokens based on the ERC-20 standard are called$ MOONS and $ BRICKS, and became part of a new Reddit initiative called Community Points. In case of successful beta testing, similar tokens will appear in other popular sections of the forum.
To manage tokens, a specialVault system, which, in essence, is a platform for creating Ethereum wallets. On this platform, users will be able to receive and spend tokens, as well as view statistics on their receipt from various subsections of Reddit.
Reddit representatives said thatsmart contracts and mobile applications have been audited by the third-party company Trail of Bits, which already has experience with the blockchain. Tokens are issued on the Rinkeby test network, and after testing is completed they will be transferred to the Ethereum main network.
“To track and fix potential problems, Reddit invites computer security experts to participate in testing our initiative,” the forum said in a statement.
The first information about the launch of the cryptocurrency wallet on Reddit appeared in early April.
