Peckshield: Hackers stole $657 million worth of cryptocurrencies in October

According to analytics firm Peckshield, hackers exploited 44 vulnerabilities in at least 53 protocols in October.They were able to withdraw over $657 million worth of digital assets.

According to Peckshield experts, since the beginning of the year, the total damage fromhacker attacks on cryptocurrency projects amounted to about $3 billion, which is twice as much as in the whole of last year. 

Hackers took advantage of the Profanity vulnerability in cryptocurrency wallets, vulnerabilities in smart contracts, and the poor architecture of some projects.In particular, hackers were able to steal more than $100 million worth of assets from a bridge on the BNB Chain network.

There have been other major hacks, such as the Mango Market trading platform losing $114 million.At the same time, the developers managed to come to an agreement with the attackers - the hackers returned $67 million in exchange for the remaining funds and the absence of prosecution.

It was previously reported that the Cosmos cryptocurrency project is preparing to introduce a new security system for the main Hub network.
