The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, fulfilled his promise by receiving his first salary with the help of automatic conversion into cryptocurrencies.
</p>According to the mayor's office this morning, Adams' salary was paid in BTC and ETH with the participation of the Coinbase crypto exchange.
“New York is the center of the world, and we want it to become the center of cryptocurrencies and other financial innovation,” Adams said in a statement.
“By being at the forefront of such innovation, we can create jobs, improve our economy and remain a magnet for talent from around the world.”
Adams promised to make the city friendly to cryptocurrencies even during his election campaign for the post of mayor, even despite the existing regulatory restrictions at the state level.
