Coinbase will sell blockchain analysis software to the US government

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase plans to sell to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the US Internal Revenue Serviceproprietary software. The software will allow you to analyze the blockchain.

The Block reports that it has gained access to documents released in April and May of this year, according to which the US authorities are interested in using the development of Coinbase Analytics.

IRS documents also said that previously this pogrom software was known as Neutrino.

It is worth recalling that Coinbase boughtItalian project Neutrino last year, which is why it was subjected to a wave of criticism. The fact is that the founders of the startup were participants in the Hacking Team project, which sold spyware to countries with a dictatorial regime.

Shortly afterwards, Coinbase management announced that people associated with the Hacking Team would not work on the project.

The purchase order has not yet been issued, and Coinbase is not included in any government contracts. But the contract amount is already known. According to documents, the price will be between $10,000 and $250,000.

Recall that experts at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia argue that a digital dollar could destroy the ability of financial institutions to lend to promising investment projects.
