China will introduce blockchain in 5G systems

The head of the digital economy research department of the telecommunications giant China Telecom is confident thatBlockchain technology will play a critical role in the development of 5G applications.

In an interview, Jiang Wei, head of China Telecom's Blockchain and Digital Economy Laboratory, said that blockchain will have a wide range of applications in the 5G era.

According to Jiang, blockchain can speed upsecure and efficient 5G resource allocation and monitoring of usage situations. In international roaming, blockchain can be used to seamlessly integrate and verify roaming networks, and to efficiently and securely share user information between different network operators in a common blockchain network. Blockchain will help manage Internet of Things devices. With 5G, IoT device connection latency is predicted to be less than 1 millisecond.  

In early April, China launched the Blockchain Services Network (BSN), which will allow developers to code and test blockchain applications on a centralized platform.
