Bitstamp will introduce a monthly fee for a number of inactive users

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp will begin charging monthly fees to some inactive account holdersrecords. The platform announced this in a blog post.

«Inactivity fee» entered from 1August and will be €10 per month. It applies to clients with an account balance of less than €200 who have not traded, deposited or withdrawn assets to Bitstamp within a year.

You can avoid additional fees by:

  • buying or selling cryptocurrencies (minimum amount is $25, EUR or GBP);
  • depositing or withdrawing funds (similar minimum amount);
  • staking via Bitstamp Earn.

The site team explained the innovation by the costs of maintaining inactive accounts.

Recall that in April, Bitstamp asked customersinformation about the origin of their crypto assets. Users reported that the exchange has closed withdrawals for EU customers who have not verified the origin of deposits.

In May, the site announced the appointment of a new CEO.
