Bithumb removes Monero from listing

The list of crypto platforms offering Monero (XMR) for trading continues to shrink.

South Korean Stock ExchangeBithumb temporarily stopped trading in April,but the Exchange Board of Auditors made a final decision only now. Amid a sex scandal using an anonymous coin to buy pornographic materials in the N-th room and pressure from the media, trading volumes fell sharply.

After journalists publishedsex tape, the resonance in South Korea only grew. A number of men were accused of distributing videos, many of which depicted the torture and rape of underage girls. According to prosecutors, administrators were paid in cryptocurrency, including monero, in exchange for access to private chats of the Telegram channel. However, the police believe that the main suspect paid several administrators in XMR to ensure mutual anonymity. 

Crypto exchanges began to exclude Monero due to coin privacy features. Huobi Korea expelled Monero after the first accusation of journalists. BitBay and OKEx stripped the coin of listing last year.
