The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved ProShares' application to launch a Bitcoin futures exchange-traded fundStrategy ETF. This is according to an updated prospectus filed by the company.
Bitcoin Strategy ETF trading starts today, 18October. The fund's underlying asset will be Bitcoin futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). The updated prospectus removed any mention of investing in Canadian Bitcoin ETFs.

According to CoinDesk, the meeting of the SEC's five commissionersfund issue from ProShares took place on Friday, October 15th. However, the conclusion of approval is based on the updated prospectus and the expiration of the 75 days allowed for consideration of the application. Since the department did not reject it on time, this is considered permission, although the Commission did not give it publicly.
Bloomberg previously reported that the SEC will not prevent the launch of Bitcoin futures ETFs. A corresponding page for the fund from ProShares under the ticker BITO also appeared in the company’s terminal.
Nasdaq has also expressed its willingness to list the similar fund Valkyrie Bitcoin Strategy ETF, which previously filed a Form 8-A securities registration. ProShares filled out the same form.
