Starting next year, employees of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation will begin to monitor the movement of officials' funds tocryptocurrency.
As the head of this department Igor Krasnov noted ininterview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, law enforcement officers will control the movement of digital currency indicated in the declarations of civil servants. Officials are required to report on the availability of tokens from January 2021, that is, from the moment the law on so-called digital assets came into force.
Krasnov stressed that many officials may reveal stolen capital in bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.At the same time, we must remember that such instruments will not receive a state of money in our country.
The Prosecutor General said:
«Virtual currency, like traditional money — can be brought into the shade».
The law enforcement system should develop a mechanism to control such transactions.both operational services and financial intelligence agencies are involved.
Krasnov believes that it is necessary to recognize the cryptocurrency as property and provide information about it to the supervisory authorities.In this case, the holder of tokens will be able to pre-claim for judicial protection.
Note that a previously similar point of viewexpressed by the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. He also believes that digital assets must be recognized as property to ensure the enforcement of criminal and criminal procedural laws.
